I could fake it but the story's too good not to tell.
I met Erin & Dan for the first time the day after the 2016 election. We met at the Marriott for a consultation / first meet, and it was impossible to not talk about the sting in the air.
"Drinks?" - I offered
"No, we're ok" - Erin, a bit begrudgingly...
"Drinks." - I insisted
An hour and a half later we're enjoying our second round and the heaviness in the air has lifted. We're talking about the similarities between Dan & myself, w/ our international backgrounds and American upbringings. We're talking about growing up in a small town, the good and the bad of it. We're talking about their Corgy, Jax, and we are laughing and smiling and feeling it.
It's painful to try and sweep the obvious under the rug. I want authenticity. I want reality. I want a sense of knowing who these people are in the images I capture.
